During the last 10 years, Power & Passion have been our loyal companions in the wonderful world of imparting Inuit Art from the North of Canada. An invisible power drew us to Inuit works of art – and looking at the mostly naturalist works we felt this indescribable presence of expression even in the smallest piece. Deeply impressed by this uniquely authentic, unprejudiced and profound art our passion engendered and has incessantly developed since.

Once upon a time … this is how fairytales usually start. For us, the real-life fairytale started on 9.9.1999 and opened up a new era when our passion for Inuit Art culminated in the opening of the Canadian Arctic Gallery in Basel. The interest for this different kind of art was remarkable, despite the fact that 10 years ago the Inuit had not yet gained much awareness in the minds of Europeans.

It has now been one decade during which we have been privileged to get to know many interesting people – and accompany them on their endeavours. Be they collectors whom we could support in developing their exquisite art collection or Inuit artists who shared their culture with us with new and at times simply spectacular works of art. Likewise, some artists gained an insight into our Swiss culture when we had the opportunity to invite them to our gallery on the occasion of opening their solo exhibition.

In the spirit of appreciation for all the magic and precious moments we have been awarded in our work, we offer our sincere thanks to the Inuit artists of the Canadian Arctic. And we are grateful to all Inuit art lovers who have ventured with us on our avenue during the last ten years. With power and passion we are already planning for the next decade, and we hope that the power of the art works will continue to thrill you – in sharing with us the passion for the arts of indigenous peoples of Canada.
